Ultimately, participants drive the curriculum based on their writing interests.
Additionally, students attend at least one literary field trip and receive instruction during Master Class with a professional creative writer who comes in from the field to talk with students about what it’s like to be a writer, teach lessons on various aspects of the creative writing process, and provide feedback on their course projects.
Students emerge from the Intensive with concrete creative writing skills; enhanced understanding of themselves as writers and storytellers; and a deeper appreciation for the art and skill of storytelling.
Through a variety of lessons, writing prompts, guest speakers, field trips, and time to put pen to paper, the course will sharpen writing skills and love of the written word.
So far, our favorite activity has been to write an ABC story – a 26 line story with each line beginning with the next letter of the alphabet.
Since we don’t have a writing group of our own, Emma and I are going through this course together.
I have no desire to formally write a short story or novel so you could consider me a reluctant writer.
